2013 CREW San Diego
President
|
I love stories. Not only do I love to hear stories, but I love to tell stories. Funny stories, sad stories, stories of success and failure…you get the picture. Some of my favorite stories are those regarding women in business. I recently had the opportunity to talk to a woman who owned the first construction business in Chicago, IL that was solely owned by a woman. Wow, did she have stories: Stories of success, stories of failure, and stories of what kept her motivated. I could have talked to her for hours and tried to soak in as much of her wisdom as I could in the short time that I had with her.
CREW exists today because of women like her. We live in a time where there are a plethora of books, TV shows, magazines, self-help gurus who all profess to have the inner secrets of success for women. They tell the story of how we should sponsor one another, mentor each other, and be a support system for one another. While I admit to reading those books and articles and listening to the self-help gurus, they are not as impactful as the relationships that I have formed in CREW – both locally and nationally. CREW is truly an organization that not only supports their members, but pushes us to be better, whatever that means to each individual. CREW is about relationships and the amazing, supportive network of your peers.
As we come to the mid-year point of 2013, I encourage you to reach out to your fellow CREW members, create a relationship that will last a lifetime, and maybe tell a story or two……you never know what you may learn and how your story may impact someone else.
